For those who have a blank mind when it comes to Integers!

Example of Positive integers: +1 +2 +3 +4 +5

Example of Negative integers: -1 -2 -3 -4 -5

Definition:

All the positive and negative whole numbers including zero are integers. The numbers on the right hand side of the number line are higher numbers than the numbers on the left.

Using counters:

Blue-Negative   Red-Positive

Subtracting Integers :

When subtracting integers the question can look like this

           (-3) – (-4)

 R     BBB    BBBB

 B

There are three B’s because there are three negative numbers. On the other side there is four B’s because there are four negative numbers.

How to find the answer!

           (-3) – (-4)

R     BBB     BBBB        Cross-out the 8 B’s (Negative) and then you have I R left. You

B                                     cross out the B’s because they are negative and you are

Subtracting negatives. So 4-3=1 and you have 1 positive left

so your answer is +1 (positive 1)!

School Issues

Weather we like to read and write for 20 min. when our teacher is away?

I think it is good for us but I would rather do somthing like if we were to get a riddle insted and within our group come up with the answer because then we can work together and it makes class all the more intresting. People who beileve that this is a good idea.
